a modern Architecture and Construction firm
Why? Because the two together are greater than their individual parts.
When we design what we build and build what we design, there is a collective whole that shows the development of an idea from its very beginning to its actualization. We cannot, however, do this alone. That is where you come in: as ‘the client’ or part of ‘the collective.’
The Client
We believe in the active participation of our clients in the designing and building processes; as a matter of fact, we believe it's critical. Bring us your dreams, wild ideas, half-baked theories, and then let's work together to make them reality. That's accomplished in several ways, with trust being the most important. We will work incredibly hard to gain your trust and work even harder to maintain it. We ask for the same from you. That trust allows collaboration, expression of ideas, and an honest dialog even when it's hard to hear. Respect goes a long way. We will work to exceed your expectations at each step of the process and gain your respect. We will respect your budget, timelines, needs, and wants. In return, we ask you to respect our experience and training as Architects and Builders. In the end we all want the same thing, a project we can all be proud of. We'd be honored to have you as a client.
The Collective
We cannot accomplish our goals for projects alone. We need the expertise of a wide range of individuals from engineers, framers, designers, plumbers, painters, and everywhere in between. We believe in working with the best, and that doesn't mean the most expensive. Our core collective of trades all have a similar vision and understand the quality we expect in their work. In return, we respect them by paying them in a timely manner, respecting their schedules, and actively looking out for their continued success. We are always looking for new members to join and contribute. If you take tremendous pride in what you do, and consider yourself a craftsman, we want to know you and work with you.

Team
Jonas DiCaprio, Founder – Designer – General Contractor
Jonas has a vast background with degrees in Architecture and work experience in Construction, Retail, and Architecture. A licensed general contractor and completing exams for Architectural Licensure. His approach is a collaborative one. He is always looking for ways to bring the best team together to meet project goals. Jonas founded Design Platform in 2009 looking to bridge the gap between Architecture and Construction. He is committed to the process of complete project management. He brings intense focus, leadership, and a strong attention to detail to every project. His enthusiasm for the process and the outcome are evident in everything he does.
Caroline Wilding, Lead Architect
Caroline is a licensed architect with over 10 years of experience in retail and residential design. She has successfully managed many high-profile projects including the James Perse flagship store in LA, Forever 21 flagship stores / roll-out concepts, and several high end residential homes. Caroline believes that design excellence is achieved from mastering details and understanding materials. This is evident in everything she does, her eye for modern design and detailing is incredible. She is a talented musician, vintage furniture collector, and a recent transplant to Denver from Los Angeles.
Dan Martell, Technical Director
Dan is the point in Design Platform where Architecture meets Construction. He has come up through the ranks of construction working as a laborer, carpenter, estimator, superintendent, and project manager. Adding to that experience Dan has a Bachelor’s degree from University of Vermont in Finance and a Master’s degree from the University of Colorado in Architecture with a historic preservation certificate. This solid foundation has lead Dan into working on both sides of the fence in Architecture and Construction. He is as comfortable designing in an office as he is building and running construction sites in the field. His strong direction, oversight, creative and critical thinking, and developed design aesthetic are invaluable. Hailing from Philly via Vermont we love having his East Coast no nonsense attitude.
Tony Hecker, Lead Carpenter
Tony brings a vast construction background and finish carpentry experience to Design Platform. Having been a remodel subcontractor for 10 years, Tony joined Design Platform in 2011. His expertise and experience are invaluable. Tony brings leadership from his past experience in retail management to the construction field and handles every day to day detail of a project under construction. He's a talented musician, artist, and a legendary skateboarder. Certainly not your typical contractor.
Tom Edwards, Lead Carpenter
Tom brings over 13 years of construction and remodeling experience to Design Platform. Having run his own successful tiling and remodeling company Tom joined Design Platform in 2013. The experience and management from running his company, creates strong leadership and management in the field. Tom organizes and executes every day to day detail on the jobsite. His ability to handle every construction project from start to finish is invaluable. Tom is a talented DJ and a music enthusiast through and through.
Daria Marchenko, Interior Designer – Social Media Specialist
Daria is a soon to be graduate of the Art Institute in Interior Design, but that is only a small reflection of her talents. She is a model, works with several artists and galleries, designs clothing, and specializes in promotion/utilization of Social Media. Daria interned with Design Platform as a construction apprentice under Tony Hecker so don’t discount her ability to throw on a tool belt either. This varied experience, a strong desire to learn, and her involvement in the arts are brought into everything she works on. She is a huge bike enthusiast and can be spotted on her red fixed gear in high heel boots.
Fred Reisen, Apprentice
Fred is a graduate of CU – Boulder with a degree in Geography and minor in Philosophy. His passion however is building with his hands and perfecting his craft(s). He has two distinct but creative crafts. First is as a musician in the local Boulder band Dynohunter playing the electric bass. Dynohunter’s live shows have helped them grow their following tremendously. They are playing larger and larger venues and festivals. Fred’s other craft is building. He has built structures in timber, straw bale, and worked in plaster as well. He has a Permaculture Designers Certificate from Ecocentro IPEC in Brazil and has been working on urban farming techniques and devices in his extra time.
Jon Edwards, Apprentice
Jon has been apprenticing under his father Tom Edwards for the last several years learning all the trades involved in executing a project start to finish. He has developed a strong eye for detail and his tile and finish work show well beyond his young age. Jon joins Design Platform to learn not only the construction process but also the design and execution of each project in detail. A hands on education in all details of Design | Build. Jon will be apprenticing with the entire team. He is an extremely talented skateboarder literally boarding since he could walk, music lover, and a great addition to our team.
Sabra Testa, Apprentice
Sabra loves design and construction. So much so, she is willing to spend time working with us on top of her full time position as an Orthopedic nurse at St. Luke’s. She has a BA in Psychology and a BS in Science Nursing. Her passion for design and construction started with her father’s construction of their family home in which Sabra painstaking worked each summer helping complete its construction. Sabra joined Design Platform looking to get involved in all aspects of design | build. She is a powerhouse in the field, is full of design ideas, a great problem solver, and the hardest working individual on the jobsite. Her passion and focus are tangible in everything she does, and we are lucky to have her on our team.
